Ardkinglas is designated a 'Designed Landscape' due to the historic importance of the policies. Parts of the gardens date from the eighteenth century, notably the 'Caspian' ornamental lake, the large wall garden and some of the specimen trees in the Woodland Garden.
The Designed Landscape consists of the house with stables and outhouses; the parkland with its specimen trees including oak, cedars, birch and firs; the Woodland Garden with its Champion trees; the house garden with its terraces, yew hedges, lake and exceptional azaleas. The commercial woodlands offer a mix of native species as well as beech, larch and spruce.
